Biography
Dagny Hay (b. 1990) is a visual artist exploring human behavior and its entanglement with media, technology, and nature. Her work delves into themes of circadian rhythm, digital dependency, consumption, and climate, often using self-portraiture as a narrative tool. She holds an MFA from NTNU and a BA (Hons) in Photography from the University of Hertfordshire. Hay is the co-editor of Uncertain States Scandinavia, a lens-based art paper, alongside Tor Simen Ulstein and Charlie Hay. She also collaborates with Charlie Hay on The Hays, an artist duo project, and other ventures. Her ongoing series Daylights documents artificial light sources in daylight, influenced by her own experiences with sleep disturbances and a deep fascination with the painting L’Empire des lumières. Through this work, she explores our relationship with illumination and overconsumption.
