Intro
Take my whole life too is a classic love story based on real events from the lives of the artist duo Dagny and Charlie Hay. After they got married in 2022, they started working together, and since 2023 worked on the photo series What the fuck do they know about love.
The project can perhaps best be described as a small comment to all the experts who think they know what love really is. But for Charlie and Dagny, it's about finding the humor and joy in working together as spouses - both in life and in art. The exhibition's title, Take my whole life too, is a clear message: Once you have found your partner, why settle for anything less?
BIO: The Hays fell in love during a photography festival in 2013. They co-founded a large-format lens-based art paper in 2016 together with a third photographer, Tor S Ulstein, and have since published 21 issues. Both have a master of fine arts from Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts. After getting married in 2022 Charlie and Dagny joined forces and began photographing together. Now as newly weds they investigate the experience of love and are willingly sharing their artistic gaze with each other to create new work. Charlie is a man of the darkroom, Dagny is the proclaimed empress of light. Together as the artistic duo The Hays they began their long term project What the fuck do they know about love? Their series premiered during Oslo Negativ 2023, and has since been exhibited a number of times, including at Østlandsutstillingen 2024.
